Tanzania’s diplomatic standing continues to thrive: PM

DODOMA, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) — Tanzania’s diplomatic standing continued to thrive across the globe following the recent election of the East African country’s citizen as the World Health Organization (WHO) regional director for Africa, Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa said Wednesday.
Majaliwa made the remarks during talks held in his office in the national capital of Dodoma with Faustine Engelbert Ndugulile, who was recently elected as the WHO regional director for Africa.
He said the government would continue to make efforts to enable as many Tanzanians as possible to secure regional and international posts.
Majaliwa said President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s three years of administration have scored tremendous achievements in the diplomatic sphere, citing the election of National Assembly Speaker Tulia Ackson as the 31st president of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in October last year.
The prime minister assured Ndugulile of the government’s full support during his five-year tenure as the WHO regional director, which starts in late February or early March 2025.
Ndugulile thanked the Tanzanian president for her support and diplomatic influence that enabled him to be elected to the post.
Ndugulile, former minister of information, communication and information technology and former deputy minister of health, was elected recently during the 74th WHO General Assembly in Brazzaville, the Republic of the Congo. ■
